A Recap from ASDS 2018
Our physician team recently returned from one of our favourite events of the year: the ASDS Annual Meeting. It’s a time for our doctors to see what new products have emerged, collaborate with the best across the globe and present to their peers on topics they are passionate about.
This year in particular was quite special for Dr Humphrey. She was recently elected to the ASDS Board of Directors, and awarded the 2018 ASDS Honours Award for Outstanding Service. This award recognizes leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to the Society’s growth and success. As ASDS President, Murad Alam, MD, MBA, stated: “The contributions of Dr. Humphrey to our Society have been many in recent years. She is an outstanding role model for all ASDS members, and the Society is pleased to recognize her efforts through this award.”
Our own physician team was also actively involved in the seminars, lectures and additional meetings that took place over the course of the four-day conference. Dr. Humphrey co-chaired a seminar on the Sophisticated Approach to Non-Surgical Rejuvenation, alongside Kim Butterwick, and lectured on Finessing the Cosmetic Consultation. Dr. Carruthers gave many lectures, including the Professor Lawrence Field Lecture in honour of the International Travelling Mentorship Program of ASDS with her husband Alastair. Dr. Beleznay also chaired a session on filler safety.
Dr. Humphrey’s week also included an ASDS Board of Directors meeting, consultative advisory meetings with Evolus and Revance, an investigator meeting for a new neuromodulator. Furthermore, she completed her term as a mentor of Dr. Amelia Hausauer for the Future Leaders Network, who presented their project on the state of research and placement of rich plasma, and supervised her resident’s presentation on Combination Therapy and Patient Satisfaction.
In addition to the topics our own team spoke on, Dr. Beleznay provided us with an insiders look at trending discussions:
- new, longer lasting toxins
- a shorter lasting toxin that would serve as a great trial treatment for new patients
- the correlation of the neck, jowls and face
- the broader benefits of and new treatment areas for Sculptra, Belkyra and Microneedling supported by latest evidence
Needless to say, we’re happy to be back in the clinic with a revived excitement for what’s to come within our industry. To learn more about the work our team is doing to contribute to major industry advancements, check out our Research page, or book a consultation.
