As someone who’s very active, spends a lot of time outdoors, and doesn’t wear a lot of makeup, I always assumed that cosmetic dermatology just wasn’t for me. But as I got older, I started to realize that my skin was no longer reflecting my healthy lifestyle, and eventually I decided to invest in some professional advice.
In the years approaching my 50thbirthday, I committed to making permanent positive changes to my routines around health and diet. I’ve always loved exercise, running in particular, and my skin was showing the wear and tear of endless miles running outside in the sun, rain, wind and snow. It took me a long time to realize that I needed to apply my healthy mindset to my skin if I wanted my face to reflect my healthy ways.
Shannon, and her team at Carruthers & Humphrey, created a number of personalized skin care routines for me which focused on the health of my skin. This has left me looking and feeling my best. I feel younger now, in mind, body and spirit, than I did 10 years ago. What I have realized throughout my skin journey is, that this isn’t just about looking younger, this is a really healthy thing to do for my body.
Besides a few minutes in the morning and at night, my lifestyle hasn’t changed — yet I get daily comments on the healthy, youthful look of my skin. I just returned from a magical 50th birthday trip to Paris, and over and over people I met were shocked to hear my age.
The time I put into my skin each day is such a small percentage of the time it takes to go to the gym, run at the beach, or plan a nutritious meal — and yet its effects are profound. I love feeling great. And I’m so grateful to CH for teaching me how to look as great as I feel.
